Choosing Workcations Instead of WFH

Redefining Work From Home for Digital Nomads

It’s been over a year since the pandemic sent us all into a work-from-home model. Though it was fun at the beginning, people soon got tired sitting at home. As travelling resumed, people made the most of this opportunity, packing up their bags and labelling themselves as digital nomads.

Your boss doesn’t have to know your whereabouts as long as you’re working, right? However, it’s not only about picking up a laptop and having an internet connection. These workcations require more for the journey to be filled with adventure, explorations, and personal growth.

A Break From Routine

The opportunity to combine travelling and work is trending now more than ever. If there is one good thing out of the pandemic, it is this. Some usually eloped to a beach or a different city/country to work from there. This is a break from the usual routine and gives you a refreshing touch.

Top-notch Wi-Fi Availability

Without an active and reliable internet connection, there is no use for this trip. Before leaving, ensure that the place has a Wi-Fi connection, and if not, make the arrangements because this is the foremost necessity for a digital nomad.

Keep Minimum Travel Costs

Working while travelling does not mean spending insane amounts of money that will overweigh the experience. Learn to keep the costs down, figure out plans that won’t cost you a diamond. Make cost-cutting plans before hitting the road.

Invest in Proper Equipment

Equip yourself with the best equipment because if something wrong happens to your laptop while travelling, there won’t be your go-to IT guy to fix it for you. So ensure you have the proper equipment – laptop, earphones, portable mouse, or whatever is necessary.

Keep a Check on Time Zones

If you’re travelling to a different country, time zones are to be kept in mind. They can affect communication and working strategy. Make sure to manage your time accordingly so you can enjoy as well.

One might ponder why work when you are travelling; it defeats the whole point of it, right? Wrong. A remote working trip is unlike a holiday. It allows doing something apart from the normal routine and have a lifetime of experience. Working from a place other than your traditional home setting provides fresh air to the mind, and increases productivity.
